KND Labs 2021 Year in Review - KND Labs

Thank you to all of our customers and partners for an amazing 2021. Because of you, KND Labs continues to grow as an industry leader!

We are very proud of all we were able to accomplish together this past year and look forward to even greater growth in 2022. Join us as we recap some of our successes in 2021 and set our goals for the upcoming year.

Global Expansion

A few of our major wins from the past year were centered around our expansion into European, Latin and other major markets around the globe. This started with a growing sales team and relentless effort to submit our FSA and EU novel food applications in addition to joining the European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA).

The FSA and EFSA, regulatory bodies in the UK and EU, evaluate novel foods for a number of safety factors before they can be sold to the general public. And as of April 2021, all CBD products that don’t have proper novel foods certifications are not able to be sold.

To further our commitment to provide quality and highly-certified ingredients to our clients in the EU, we joined the EIHA, the only pan-European membership organization in the industrial hemp sector. The EIHA’s main goal is to protect and represent the hemp sector in the EU and international policy-making while representing the interests of hemp farmers, producers and traders.

Organic Certification

After a thorough review of our facilities and processes, California Certified Organic Farmers, a USDA-accredited organization, certified KND ingredients with the organic stamp of approval.

We are pleased to now be offering organic broad spectrum distillate, CBD crystalline isolate and blended cannabinoid oils for co-manufacturers.

Revamped Technical Specifications

In furthering our promise of certifications and transparency, our team rolled out revamped technical specifications for all of our products.

But what are tech specs? Think of the nutrition label you see every day but for CBD. They provide a deep dive into everything that goes into making the CBD you purchase from where the hemp is sourced, to how it is made and tested and the best applications for it.

Each technical specification highlights topline information including the extraction process and the hemp’s origin in addition to the final product’s appearance, odor, flavor, consistency, solubility, composition, plant parts, storage and shelf life, application and ingredients.

Additionally, customers can view cannabinoid content, residual solvents, elemental impurities, storage requirements, testing practices and allergens for each product.

New Products

Our in-house chemists and R&D team are constantly working on adapting ingredients, creating custom blends and bringing best-in-class products to market to fit our customers’ needs. In addition to our new organic broad spectrum distillate, CBD crystalline isolate and blended cannabinoid oils, we are excited to offer a number of new ingredients.

FreeFlow Products

Our team formulated two FreeFlow™ Distillate, RELAX and UPLIFT. Available in FreeFlow™ form & KND Superior Water Miscible™, the two specialty products combine the perfect blend of cannabinoids and terpenes for a desired effect, allowing KND customers to efficiently formulate and build SKUs with less R&D required.

RELAX brings a calming feeling to both the mind and body while UPLIFT acts with an uplifting response, boosting the energy and mood of the mind and body.

Our FreeFlow™ CBD Distillate is extracted through denatured ethyl alcohol and further distilled through our chromatography and distillation process.

THCv

Our THCv goes through a primary extraction from industrial hemp using approved hydrocarbon solvents, denatured ethyl alcohol or CO2 and is then refined into a high-potency, amber gold oil.

THCv lacks the psychoactive delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol while it is abundant in delta-8 and delta-9 tetrahydrocannabivarin. Like all of our products, the industrial hemp is sourced from U.S. growers who have registered with their state’s respective Department of Agriculture, meeting the global CBD supply chain standard.

THCv provides many of the same potential benefits of other cannabinoids in addition to possessing potential appetite-reducing properties and is best used in topical and ingestible applications.

CBDa

It is said that CBDa, a crystalline isolate, comes with superior bioavailability for both humans and animals alike. It is often referred to as a “superiornnabinoid” believed to reduce inflammation and pain and control serotonin levels related to core functions.

This isolated cannabinoid comes in the form of a beige crystalline powder that contains a minimum of 98%+ CBDa.

CBDv

CBDv, which is structurally similar to CBD, is also non-psychoactive and possesses similar benefits such as reducing inflammation and nausea.

We recommend using CBDv in new-to-market formulations and along with our industry-leading Cannabinoid Isolates and broad-spectrum distillates.
